Hail nard dog
Not as good with women singing it.
My mother's father went to Cornell in the early 1900's. Then he stayed on to be a professor of Architecture after he graduated. My mother was a little girl in Ithaca in the 1920's, and she grew up with this beautiful song ringing in her ears. Later on, in the 1950's, when she became my mother, she taught me to love it too!! " Far above Cayuga's waters...". I never heard the song in its entirety until i heard this recording of all your beautiful voices singing together. Thankyou for taking me back to a wonderful memory... May all Your memories of Cornell be sweet. 😊❤

Nard dog❤😂
Syracuse's Alma Mater to the same tune ! Where the veil of Onondaga meets the eastern sky. Proudly stands out Alma Mater on a hill top high ! Flag we live ORANGE float for aye .. Old Syracuse o'er thee .. Loyal be thy sons and daughters .. to thy memory .. 1893 ...
Found this song by watching Titanic 1953 and fell in love with it
This feels like a chorale practice.
Wait!? There's a second verse? 😊 Brilliantly done.
I can't stop listening to this piece, it is so beautiful!
Love this!
I first heard this in Titanic 1953
first heard this from the 1953 film version of Titanic
I had goosebumps because of this, this is crazy
Absolutely beautiful.
love this! Especially my old Cornell!
Don't they sing this in dirty dancing with different words
Yes, Kellerman’s Anthem
There is someone with an amazing high voice you can hear from 1:08 , i've rarely been stunned by a voice that icredible.
So the tune came from a song about a girl dying of TB. No wonder the song is a bit sad.
Wonderful!! Wonderful!!! Blessings to all good students and good children of Cornell
Awesome job Loved it!
They played this as the titanic was sinking in the titanic movie called a night to remember starting Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwick. It really hits you brings a tear to your eye
i never went to college but i love this song , for some reason i'm really attracted to it and it always brings tears to my eyes, i guess because it has such a melancholy feel and usually sung in chorus. the first time i heard it was in the movie "Titanic" from the 1950's when some men were singing it in the lounge of the ship and it always stuck with me. i sing it a lot at home or in my car and now with youtube i can watch and sing along with others.
Autore?
Like this song
Wonderful! Wonderful! Bessings to all good students and good children of Cornell. . .
What hymn is this?
The tune is Annie Lisle. It's also the melody for the alma mater of William & Mary.
Sounds very similar to Willliam&Mary’s alma mater.
Yes. Yes. There are many universities and colleges having this 'college song' with differing words. Note Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg Lehigh and Shippensburg universities, all clustered in eastern Pennsylvania.
@@maryalicewebberking6274 Words by Cornellians, set to a popular tune, then adapted by numerous American colleges and universities. As a Glee Club alum from the 80’s, I sang it dozens of times in concert. Still feels wrong to remain seated when I hear it. From Wikipedia: "Far Above Cayuga's Waters" is Cornell University's alma mater. The lyrics were written circa 1870 by roommates Archibald Croswell Weeks (Class of 1872), and Wilmot Moses Smith (Class of 1874), and set to the tune of "Annie Lisle", a popular 1857 ballad by H. S. Thompson about a heroine dying of tuberculosis.”
Oh my God, I have goosebumps!!! I'm proud to be a Cornellian!!!
I’m ended up here thanks to Andy Bernard!
Wow. Thanks for that. 360 degrees of community and spirit.
who else is here after Andy "Nard Dog" Bernard?
I heard this on that episode of season 9 on the office and It was so catchy so I've had it on loop for about 12 minutes listening to it countless times.
Same...
Glad I'm not the only one...
I wish I could find that specific version
I’m here because I’ve had the tune stuck in my head for weeks thinking it was a Christmas song I couldn’t remember the lyrics of. I hummed it to my fiancé and he lost it laughing, and showed me the clip of it being sung on the office.
Just when you think it can't get any better the sopranos begin hitting those high notes. A real musical thrill. Definitely the greatest school song ever.
Entrances could use some work, annunciation wasn’t always the same, but this is a lovely arrangement
Beautiful!
very slack standard of kleidung results in poor visual presentation, spite of beautiful singin.
Open minds and opens hearts to God Our Havenly Father☆☆☆Rev 3:20.School of Agriculture God Bless☆☆☆
From which I infer that there is a distinction between the Glee Club and the Chorus as to which prescribes tiptoe at the words 'lift'. My guess is that the Chorus 'lifts' and the Glee Club does not...
Late reply, but this is correct.
by far,greatest school song ever
What a beautiful arrangement, and the changes the second time through doubled my chills..... I'm sure standing in that hall and hearing this in person would have brought me to tears. I have no connection to Cornell, but the chords in this alma mater are special indeed. So well done guys!!
This is remarkably stirring. It's a splendid thing to engage, with people who have no connection with an institution, such an implicitly insular rite. Very Nicely Done.
nda ndi singa wow lol
No wonder we haven’t won an Ivy League football title since 1990. Nothing inspires a team like a song about drinking in late 1800’s bars.
I suspect a high % of Ivy alums don't know or care how the football team is doing.
Not just the alums; at the last football game I attended, the band alone outnumbered the rest of the audience.
@@wizardofeyes Can you imagine if larger society was like this, and no one cared about the NFL? Dare to dream.
@@ThereIsNoLord "Bread and circuses" still apply. I fondly recall marching onto the stadium with the Big Red Band 1971-74, when there were 35,000 fans between the Crescent and West Stands. What a thrill! Those were good days.
@@wizardofeyes I will confess, it sounds like an interesting time. Hard to imagine for me.
Boner Champ and Broccoli Rob would be proud of these guys.
ANDY "NARD DOG" BERNARD
Really amazing arrangement and performance.
“And when the hour struck there were carried to us the tinkly little notes of that strange little tune which becomes so much a part of a Cornellian’s mind that he will suddenly hear it in Moscow or Peking when the jingling of a falling spoon starts a corresponding reverberation in that deep cavern of his mind where lie buried his dearest recollections.” Hendrik W. van Loon, Class of 1905
Best Alma Mater ever.
The most beautiful Alma Mater, and best Fight Song!
I'm a graduate of both Cornell and Notre Dame. Cornell has the better alma mater, but ND has the best fight song!
@@tavishmacintaggart4442 Wow. I love both fight songs. Y'know, everyone thinks the ND fight song is the most famous, but the tune of 'Give My Regards to Davy' is probably more famous. That said, goodness. Why didn't Cornell maintain its reputation in football. Through the first decades of the 20th it was up there with Michigan and close to ND. God bless!
